Welcoming students with interests in any area of technical theatre, the Tech Crew provides all students with an opportunity to contribute to theatre together through exploration, creativity, and collaboration.
The DC area's most comprehensive technical theatre education program, Highwood's Technical Training Workshops Series and Tech Crew is open to all interested students grades 5-12 in school or homeschooled. The only prerequisite is a desire to learn, explore, meet new people, and collaborate!
If you're new to Highwood's Tech Crew, you must sign up for the Technical Training Workshops Series (all workshops individually, or as a Series) prior to joining the Tech Crew.
Tech Crew members will be consistently challenged and inspired to take risks, do their best, and develop as confident collaborators and creators.
The Highwood Theatre offers the only comprehensive technical theatre education program in the area. As a prerequisite to joining the Tech Crew, students must complete the workshop series. From digital sound, to automated lighting, programming, DMX, microphones, sound editing, power tools, scenic painting, and more - students learn all the skills necessary to join the all-student tech crew to design and implement all technical aspects of Highwood's productions.
The Tech Crew is open ONLY to students who have completed the Technical Training Workshop Series. Students previously enrolled in the Tech Crew should contact us so we can advise as to which Training Workshops (if any) they are required to take. Students on the Tech Crew take control of designing and implementing sound, lights, props, set, and special effects for all of Highwood’s productions throughout the year. Students also have the opportunity to work on school projects and professional projects with Highwood.
