Pit Band

Play an instrument?  The pit band is free to join!  Check out the dates and instrument needs for each production below.

Pit Bands for all of Highwood's musical productions are made up of student musicians!  Musicians interested in joining the Pit Band for a show must have both availability to attend the listed rehearsals and performances (if you have a small conflict, please let us know) and the ability to read music and play with intermediate proficiency.

You are expected to mostly learn your part on your own, though we are happy to schedule individual times to work with musicians as needed - or you can take private instrument lessons at Highwood.

Playing in the band is not only a wonderful, professional experience, but it is also fun, challenging, and helps prepare you for college or the professional world.  Band members feel a part of the team, get to interact with the cast and crew, and always have a great time!

Pit Band Members in Elementary, Middle, or High School: No pay is available, though we can offer hours for community service.

Rising College Students, Freshman or Sophomores in College:  A stipend of $25 per performance is available for advanced players (an audition may be necessary) under the condition that you arrive on time to all performances and attend all required rehearsals.

Juniors or Seniors in College/Adults:  While we do not often use professional working musicians in our pit bands, we occasionally do need additional players.  Please still get in touch, and we will keep you on your list.  Per-sitting pay rates are available for professional musicians.
